Patrick L. Johnson - Chief
Executive Officer
Mr. Johnson is a seasoned executive with P&L leadership in turnarounds, start-ups, emerging companies, as well as companies challenged with mature product life cycles. With a history of repeatedly growing sales and gross margins at double digit growth rates, Patrick has provided leadership in strategic planning, sales, marketing, corporate branding, product positioning, and operations. Patrick is a senior executive with 25 years experience leading manufacturing companies in diverse industries including medical, dental, aerospace, and motorsports.
His recent leadership experience includes ten years with Pro-Dex, Inc., a publicly-held medical device manufacturer, serving in the roles of Chief Business Development Officer, CEO and President, and Board Member. Mr. Johnson left Pro-Dex in early 2010 to start-up a humanitarian relief organization, The WorldBed Project. The charter of this organization was to build strategic alliances with government, NGOs, corporations, and individuals to bring badly needed funding to Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake. Prior to Pro-Dex, Mr. Johnson held senior management positions with Sybron Dental Specialties, Tycom Dental, and Dabico Inc.
Patrick graduated from the University of California with Honors, earning Bachelors of Arts degrees in Philosophy and Legal Studies. Patrick also earned his Masters of Arts in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. Mr. Johnson currently serves as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Chapman University Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship.
Marc Kelly - Chief Financial
Officer
Mr. Kelly serves as Chief Financial Officer on a dedicated part-time basis and is a member of the Board of Directors. Marc is a hands-on strategist & seasoned entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in private capital fund raising and financial management. Since 2001, he has been a Managing Director of Innovative Financial Consultants (IFC), a consultancy that provides fractional CFO services to private companies with a focus on developing financial strategy, accelerating funding and managing growth.
Marc also serves on the Board of Advisors of Growing Naturally, a provider of Contract Executive Services for natural foods companies. Other past client companies at which he has served as CFO and/or raised private equity funding include: Incuity Software, New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Source Scientific, CEYX Technologies, CryoPort Corporation, Alteer Corp. and RealityBuy.
Prior to his successful career as a CFO, Marc provided investment advisory services to private investors at Spectrum Asset Management, an organization he co-founded in 1987. As managing partner, he managed all firm operations and generated over $150 Million in new client assets. Prior to Spectrum, he managed equity portfolios for Argus Investment Management in Newport Beach, CA and Stein, Roe & Farnham in Chicago.
Marc graduated with Honors from the University of Southern California with a BA in Public Relations and minor in Finance. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and has served three times as President of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association of Orange County and five times as chair of the HBSAOC Annual Entrepreneurs Conference.
Shepard Bentley - RAC -
Director, Regulatory Affairs & Quality Assurance
Shepard G. Bentley, RAC (US), Lieutenant Colonel, USMC,
retired, founded Bentley Biomedical Consulting, LLC (BBC) to
provide regulatory strategies for both medical device and drug
approvals by FDA. BBC provides risk management, regulatory
consulting and reimbursement strategies as well as facilitates
registrations and approvals in the European Union, Canada, Brazil
and China. Prior to founding BBC, Mr. Bentley held senior
positions with multiple medical device and health care companies,
including, Volcano Therapeutics, Kendall-McGaw Laboratories, and
Hospital Corporation of America.
Mr. Bentley also served eight years of active duty as an officer
in the United State Marine Corp, including as a part of the Marine
Expeditionary Force (Forward), deployed to Ash Shuaybah, Kuwait, to
prosecute the invasion into Baghdad, Iraq, and then redeployed to
Office of Force Transformation, in the Pentagon. He was awarded
Meritorious Service Medal by the President of the United States,
twice, and retired from military service in 2005.
Shep completed his undergraduate studies at The University of The
South (affiliated with Cambridge University, Cambridge, United
Kingdom) with a Bachelor of Arts in Philology (International
Literature), continuing on at Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz,
Germany with advanced Studies in Philology. Mr Bentley also
studied at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
Ann Deren-Lewis - Director,
Professional Clinical Marketing
Ms. Deren-Lewis has spent more than 20 years in marketing, medical education, key opinion leadership management, compliance, physician training and business development. Prior to her current engagements, Ms. Deren-Lewis worked at Merz as Vice President of Medical and Medical Services, leading professional marketing, medical affairs and industry support for the medical and aesthetic dermatology and neurology business units. She has also held leadership positions in several companies, including Stiefel (a GlaxoSmithKline company), OrthoDermatologics (Johnson & Johnson), Genentech, Amgen and GlaxoSmithKline.
Ms. Deren-Lewis holds a Master of Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, in Durham, North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology and the Women's Dermatology Society. Ms. Deren-Lewis is also a board member of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery Charitable and Education Endowment.
Denise Ryan - Director,
Professional Practitioner Sales
Ms. Ryan is an award winning sales professional with over 20 years experience in the dental and medical device industries. Her areas of expertise include launching new products, key opinion leadership development, managing national distribution channels, as well as sales and technical training to practitioner-based accounts. Ms. Ryan has held various sales and business development positions with large and mid-sized manufacturing companies including Henry Schein, Inc, a Fortune 300 company and worldwide distributor of medical, dental and veterinary products.
Denise earned a Doctorate in Traditional Naturopathy and Bachelor of Science in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health. Ms. Ryan also holds a Certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from Cornell University and is a member of the American Botanical Council.
